The object of the intervention consisted in the creation of a restaurant-bar on the ground floor of the emblematic Zendrera house, which is strategically located in a historic complex with the main facade facing the sea.
The space is structured in a vaulted central nave with two spaces juxtaposed with the main nave, whose transition is produced by semi-circular arches. The diaphanous space with no finishes had so many remarkable architectural qualities - due to its structure of clear walls, arches, and vaults - that these essences had to be preserved and compatible with the requirements of the functions of the bar itself.
Consequently, the bar counter was added as the background of the main nave, with furniture that has an iron tray structure, which was used as a filter between the public space and the functional part of the kitchen. This structure, which was discreetly placed into the space, creates, on one hand, a respectful passage of arches until the end of the space and, on the other, leads to the darkest zones of the installation through the separating mirrors, and the light and beach slip through the opening of the arches of the main facade.
Set Cadaqués desires to be more than a bar, it is an extension of our own living room, a place for cultural meetings, of connection with its history, with the Mediterranean living style. Therefore, furniture such as longitudinal benches or domestic objects were added (wicker, las rayas, floor lamps), or something similar to a living room with a fireplace that invites people to spend a pleasant time with a book and a hot drink.
The domestic and unpretentious materials help us, in an indisputable way, to connect this essence, which has always been the purpose of the project.
